Brooks, Alberta – The Brooks Bandits and Board of Directors are pleased to announce the appointment of Rory McGouran as the organisation’s new Director of Broadcasting and Community Relations.
“Rory brings credibility, energy, creativity, and a deep understanding of both the game and the importance of community engagement,” said President Paul Seaton on behalf of the Board of Directors. “We are confident in his ability to elevate our broadcasting presence while strengthening the connection between our organisation, our supporters, and the broader community.”
McGouran brings over a decade of experience in junior hockey broadcasting, media, and corporate partnership operations. McGouran’s work has spanned both Canada and the United States, with stops in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Humboldt, Saskatchewan, and Canton, Massachusetts.
McGouran spent seven seasons as the Play-by-Play voice and marketing manager with the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s (SJHL) Humboldt Broncos, taking over in the 2018-19 season where his play-by-play brought games to life. He also doubled community sponsorship and marketing efforts while expanding new media and engagement opportunities, turning game nights into must-see events. He then travelled south of the border to work with the Northeast Generals of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) in Canton, Massachusetts, showcasing his ability to elevate both broadcast quality and community engagement.
“I’m honored to join such a prestigious organization and become a part of the Bandits Family. It takes an entire community to run a successful hockey team, and I can’t wait to introduce myself to the fans, the sponsors, the players and parents, volunteers, and everyone that is cheering on the Bandits,” said McGouran. “I’m a true believer in maintaining an open-door policy and connecting with my community. I actively encourage fans, sponsors, players, and community members to connect with me, share ideas, and be part of shaping the team’s story. I want to thank the Board of Directors and the entire Bandits organisation for putting their trust in me.”
McGouran’s resume also includes serving as a broadcaster and analyst for the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, delivering play-by-play coverage for marquee events including SJHL Finals and Game of the Month broadcasts, while also co-hosting a league-wide weekly talk show.
Earlier in his career, Rory worked as a Producer and On-Air Host for TSN 1290 in Winnipeg, where he covered live professional sports, produced Winnipeg Jets Broadcasts, and co-hosted the popular MMA talk show “The Weigh-In.”
The Board further believes Rory’s appointment represents an opportunity to introduce a fresh and progressive approach within an organisation that has enjoyed sustained success for many years.
Rory’s leadership in the role of Director of Broadcasting and Community Relations is expected to play an important role in shaping the next chapter of the organisation’s continued growth and success.
The entire organisation welcomes Rory and his family and looks forward to an exciting future together.
