The Brooks Bandits are proud to announce that forward Leon Bussmann has signed a pro contract and will join EC Bad Nauheim in the DEL2 in Germany for the 2026-27 season.
Bussman, from Starnberg, Germany, joined the Bandits in their championship run midway through this past season after being acquired in a trade from the Vernon Vipers.
“We’re extremely proud of Leon and excited to see him earn this opportunity. He came into our group, worked hard every day, embraced the culture, and played an important role in our championship season,” said Director of Hockey Operations, Wayne Labrie. “Signing a pro- contract is a testament to his commitment and perseverance, and we wish him nothing but success as he begins the next chapter of his hockey journey.”
This past year was his first and lone season in Canada, posting 15 points (7g-8a) in 31 games combined between Vernon and Brooks. The 2006-born forward added 5 points in 16 BCHL playoff games with the Bandits.
Prior to making the trip to the BCHL, Bussman spent his junior career in Germany with games played throughout the Germany3, U20, and DEL ranks.
