Bandits present net income of $49,900 at 2025 Annual General Meeting

The Brooks & District ‘Junior A’ Hockey Association, who own and operate the Brooks Bandits of the BCHL, concluded the 2024-25 season with a net income of $49,900, or 2.9% of annual expenses.

The financial report was delivered during the 2025 Annual General Meeting, which was held in the lobby of the Centennial Regional Arena on Wednesday, August 20th.

The surplus was achieved because of the team’s deep playoff run, which saw the Bandits capture the 2025 Fred Page Cup this past May, becoming the first Alberta team to win the BCHL Championship.

Ticket revenues pay 43% of expenses, while the team relies on other revenue streams to pay the majority (57%) of expenses.

The Bandits are incredibly thankful for the support of their fans, advertisers and supporters which resulted in a much-needed revenue increase of $59,400 driven by increases in ticketing, advertising, 50/50, liquor and merchandise sales.  Expenses also increased by $35,400 due to higher travel-related, supplies, equipment, officiating and technology costs.

Paul Seaton will enter his 16th season as President and lead the Board of Directors consisting of April Fleury, Murray Hauck, Neil Fraser, Mike Ibach, Sheila Laverty, Reg Swartz and James Unchelenko.

Dakota Mason was named Head Coach following the departure of the team’s all-time winningest coach, Ryan Papaioannou, who recently accepted the Head Coach position of the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers.

Wayne Labrie was promoted from Head Scout to Director of Hockey Operations, while Keven Sajinovic was promoted from Goaltender Coach to Assistant Coach.

Nathan Crosby (Business Manager) and Terri-Lea Yeaman (Office Manager) return to run the off-ice operations.

New staff include Assistant Coach Cole McCaig, Athletic Therapist and Equipment Manager Taylor Smith, and Media Manager Ryan Reed.

The Bandits Golf Tournament is August 29th at the Brooks Golf Club, with Training Camp opening on August 30th at the Centennial Regional Arena. The Preseason begins when the Bandits host the Trail Smoke Eaters on September 6th. The Bandits Regular Season Home Opener is Saturday, September 20th vs Okotoks.
