Bandits defenceman Nate Yellowaga commits to Maine

August 3, 2024 – The Brooks Bandits of the BCHL are excited to announce 2008-born defenceman Nate Yellowaga has committed to the University of Maine.

The 16-year-old, left-handed, defenceman is coming off a superb season with the Southern Alberta Hockey Academy (SAHA) U18 team, leading the team in scoring from the blue line with 25 points (5G, 20A) in 25 games played. He was named to the CSSHL U18 Second All-Star Team and was 15th overall in defenceman scoring in all of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) U18 league.

This past season, Yellowaga posted three points (1G, 2A) in 11 regular season games with the Bandits while also dressing in seven playoff games with the team.

The Calgary, AB native scored his first goal in the BCHL in a March 22nd win over the Sherwood Park Crusaders.

The Maine Black Bears compete in the Hockey East Conference of NCAA Division I Hockey.
