Spruce Grove, Alberta – The Brooks Bandits defeated the Spruce Grove Saints 3-2 in overtime. Jack Good scored twice, including the overtime winner.
It was a quiet first period, with no goals scored by either side.
Jack Good opened the scoring in the second period at 45 seconds on a goal that was originally waved off after the net was pushed off its moorings. After review, the referees determined that the puck would’ve gone in if De Kok hadn’t dislodged the net, and Good was awarded the goal.
Declan Waddick tied the game at 6:10 on a breakaway, beating Zach Zahara glove side. Frantisek Albrecht restored the Bandits’ lead after receiving a beautiful feed from Tanner Winegard and capitalizing five hole on the unsuspecting De Kok. Tre Peck tied the game once more for the Saints at 14:55, sending it to the third period even at two.
The third period featured plenty of chances for both teams, but neither could convert and take the lead.
Overtime was brief, as Jack Good scored just 2:15 in, showing incredible patience before ripping a shot short side to give the Bandits their sixth win over the Saints this season.
The Bandits return to action next weekend when they visit the Sherwood Park Crusaders on Friday. They will then host the division leading Blackfalds Bulldogs the following day.
