Bandits sign 2005-born defenceman Shane Burns

BROOKS, AB (December 27, 2024) – The Brooks Bandits Hockey Club have signed defenceman Shane Burns (’05), the team announced Friday.

Burns, 19, joins the Bandits after spending the last two seasons with the Steinbach Pistons in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

“Shane is physical defender that possesses a talented offensive stick. His game is honest, hard working and we see him playing a big role for our team.” commented Bandits’ General Manager, and Head Coach Ryan Papaioannou.

The San Clemente, CA, product had 16 points (4G, 12A) in 20 games for the Pistons this season. Burns is a graduate of Northstar Christian Academy where he spent two seasons prior to going the Pistons. The 5’11, 205 pound defender was also an Assistant Captain this season helping to lead the Pistons to an MJHL leading record at the Christmas Break.

Burns will wear number eight and will make his BCHL debut December 28th, when the West Kelowna Warriors visit the Bandits at the Centennial Regional Arena.
