Bandits Overwhelm Oilers 7-1 in Brooks

Brooks, Alberta – The Brooks Bandits defeated the Okotoks Oilers 7-1 in Brooks on Monday evening. The Bandits scored four goals in the third period alone, marking the second straight game in which they overwhelmed their opponent in the final frame.

Joseph Meridith opened the scoring at 6:33, giving the Oilers an early 1-0 lead. Zachary Deleau responded at 13:46, burying a shot from the point to send the teams into the break tied 1-1.

Isaac Johnson wasted no time in the second period, scoring at 1:49 on a beautiful solo effort. Harry Ahlberg made it 3-1 at 14:09, ripping a shot off the post to give the Bandits their first comfortable cushion of the night.

Jack Rosensteel struck just 44 seconds into the third period. Dmitrijs Dilevka added a power play goal at 7:02 to extend the lead. Tanner Winegard blasted one from the point at 14:33 for his first goal as a Bandit, and Liam Fitzpatrick capped the scoring with a shorthanded breakaway backhand at 18:14.

Zach Zahara made 26 saves on 27 shots for a convincing win.

The Bandits return to action Friday when they travel to Spruce Grove to face the Saints. They are back home Saturday to host the Cranbrook Bucks.
