Bandits Fall in Overtime Despite Third Period Comeback

Brooks, Alberta – Despite erasing a 3-1 deficit, the Brooks Bandits lost 4-3 to the Langley Rivermen in overtime at the CRA Saturday night. The Bandits rattled off two quick goals in the third period to tie it, but the Rivermen proved too much in the extra frame.

Connor Paronuzzi triggered the Teddy Bear Toss with a first period marker at 16:30 on the power play. That was the lone scoring action of the first period. All the teddy bears have been donated to the Smiles for Christmas campaign.

Sam Allaby scored at 10:24 of the second period to tie it up, and Parker Forlin followed suit and took the lead for the Rivermen. The BCHL league leader in goals Aaron Rierson put another one in to give Langley the two goal cushion heading to the third.

Nico Addy buried a power play marker at 15:57 on a wrist shot from the point to swing the momentum in Brooks’ favour. Liam Fitzpatrick scored 17 seconds later to tie it up quickly for the Bandits with a shot from the right circle.

Darius Bachler scored the OT winner at 4:09 and gave Langley the road victory.

The Bandits travel to Blackfalds tomorrow and take on the Bulldogs. Puck drop is at 4:00 MT.
