Bandits’ Captain, Dante Siciliano has been named one of 10 recipients in the BCHL’s Interior Division of the Kyle Turris Community Award.
The Kyle Turris Community award is given yearly to BCHL players who go above and beyond in their community.
On the ice, Siciliano was a mainstay on the Bandits’ blueline with a stabilizing presence and leadership during back-to-back BCHL championships. Over the course of his Bandits’ tenure the Whitby, ON native and graduating defenseman dressed for 119 combined games through two regular seasons and playoff runs, where he accumulated 58 points (15g-43a).
Off the ice, Siciliano’s representation of the Bandits was carried brightly throughout his contagions positive and upbeat mentality while being mentor to the youth.
“It’s an honor to be named a Kyle Turris Award Winner. It’s something I take a lot of pride in, giving back to the community as much as they have given to me. I tried to embrace what the Brooks community is all about, which is welcoming everyone and accepting everyone with open arms so i tried to do that to my fullest,” said Siciliano
Siciliano’s contributions throughout the community included school visits, community events, autograph signings, Brooks Minor Hockey, among other mentorship roles.
“I always wanted to give back to the school with visits and with the kids. They look up to us, and its something they are going to remember during their time growing up, going to Bandits games, knowing that they had an idol there or a mentor for themselves. That’s always something I pride myself in. It’s just an absolute honor to get that award,” Siciliano added.
Now that Siciliano’s Bandits tenure has come to a conclusion, he will bring his commitment both on the ice and in the community to NCAA DIV I with the University of Maine.
