Lalonde hat trick helps Bandits to 5-1 home opener victory against the Oilers

September 21, 2024- Parker Lalonde netted a hat trick and the Brooks Bandits won their home opener 5-1 against the Okotoks Oilers on Saturday at the Centennial Regional Arena.

Prior to puck drop, the team raised four banners from the 2023-24 season: U20 Super Challenge Champions, Regular Season Champions, Alberta Cup Champions and Rocky Mountain Challenge Champions.

Forward Nathan Free opened up the scoring just six minutes into the game with a spin pass from forward Jack Good. Just five minutes later, the Oilers scored their first goal of the season on a shot from Jacob Goudreau finds the top corner to tie the game 1-1. Only a minute later, Parker Lalonde scorded on the powerplay to take the lead back. Only three minutes later Lalonde scores another on the powerplay to put two up for the team in the period.

In the second period, the Bandits continued their scoring as Isaac Johnson pots his second of the season off the rush thanks to an intercepted pass and carry-in by defenceman Quinn McCall. Near the end of the period, Parker Lalonde netted his third of the game for a hat trick, scoring from the slot.

In the 3rd period, there was no scoring and Johnny Hicks shut the door on way his second win of the regular season.

The Bandits continue their regular season on September 27th, where the team hosts the Penticton Vees. It’s the first time a BCHL team heads to Brooks this season. Game time is 7:00 pm.
