About the Brooks Bandits:
The Brooks Bandits are one of Canada’s premier Junior A hockey programs, known for championship-caliber performance, elite player development, and a deep connection to the community. As members of the BCHL, we operate in a fast-paced, highly competitive environment where excellence on the ice is matched by professionalism off it. We are seeking a Director of Business and Accounting who will strengthen our
financial operations, support organizational growth, and help ensure the Bandits remain a model franchise in junior hockey.
Position Overview:
The Director of Business and Accounting is responsible for overseeing all financial, business, and administrative operations of the Brooks Bandits organization. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, supports revenue generation, manages day-to-day business functions, and contributes to long-term strategic planning. The ideal candidate understands the unique demands of a junior hockey program and can balance financial discipline with the dynamic needs of a BCHL team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all accounting operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and audit preparation.
- Manage daily business functions such as accounts payable/receivable, payroll, vendor contracts, and financial compliance.
- Oversee game-day financial processes, including ticketing reconciliation, merchandise revenue tracking, sponsorship invoicing, and event profitability.
- Collaborate closely with hockey operations on team-related financial planning, including travel budgets, equipment purchasing, billet program support, and player services.
- Support revenue development through sponsorship analysis, partnership management, fundraising initiatives, and grant opportunities.
- Provide regular financial updates and strategic recommendations to the Board of Directors.
- Ensure compliance with BCHL league requirements, government regulations, and internal policies.
- Assist business office staff and coordinate with volunteers, game-day personnel, and external partners.
- Maintain and improve financial systems, reporting tools, and operational workflows to support organizational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (designation preferred).
- Experience in accounting or business management; experience in sports, non-profit, or entertainment sectors is an asset.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with seasonal fluctuations and game-day demands.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with coaches, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
- Experience with Sage accounting software and financial analysis tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft and/or Google applications
- A passion for hockey, community engagement, and supporting elite player development.
