Bandits Win 2-1 in Overtime and Take 2-1 Series Lead

Nanaimo, BC – The Brooks Bandits defeated the Nanaimo Clippers 2-1 in overtime and took a 2-1 series lead in the Rogers BCHL Cup. Jack Rosensteel posted a goal and an assist including the overtime winner.

Tanner Bruender scored the first goal of the game in the second period at 1:35 on a bank shot from behind the net past Zach Zahara. That was the only goal Zach Zahara gave up in the game.

After a scoreless second period, Isaac Johnson scored on a pass from Jack Rosensteel. Johnson faked forehand and tucked a backhand past the out-of-position goaltender (6:33).

In overtime, the Bandits found pay dirt quickly. After a crucial penalty kill, Jack Rosensteel shot top corner from the end line past Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau, ending the game just 2:10 into overtime.

Zach Zahara’s 36 saves earned him first star of the game honours.

The Bandits visit the Clippers for Game 4 on Wednesday night at the Frank Crane Arena. Puck drop is at 7:00 PT and will be broadcast on New Country 105.7.
