Bandits take down the Coastal Conference’s first place Chilliwack Chiefs 5-2 at the CRA

Brooks, AB (March 1,2025)-  The Bandits hosted the Chilliwack Chiefs for the first time in their franchise history at the Centennial Regional Arena on Saturday night. Luke Bibby scored his third goal in two games while Parker Lalonde scored twice to defeat the Chiefs 5-2.

Zach Zahara made 30 stops between the pipes to lift the Bandits over the chiefs.

In the opening frame, Nathan Free got the first one of the game as he got set up from Jace Letourneau in the high slot to rip the shot past Quentin Miller to make it 1-0 Bandits. Moments later, Nico Grabas got one back for the Chiefs as he scored his 12th on the year to bring the game back level.

In the 2nd period, Drew Mackie received a back door pass from Cooper Pierson and made no mistake on  the open net to put the Bandits back ahead 2-1. Just three minutes later, Luke Bibby scored a toe drag wrist shot goal from the centre slot to extend the Bandits lead to 3-1.

In the final frame, Parker Lalonde scored just less then two minutes in on the powerplay finding the loose  puck in the blue paint and jamming it home to make it 4-1 Bandits. Later in the period, Brady Milburn got one back for the Chiefs to make it 4-2 with just under five minutes to go to give the Chiefs hope but in the final minute, Parker Lalonde got the lead pass from Keith McInnis to ice the cake as he scored the empty net goal to make it a 5-2 Bandits win.

The Bandits will head on the road to Trail and West Kelowna next Friday and Saturday for a BC road trip and will return home on March 14 to take on the Okotoks Oilers at 7 PM.
