Bandits Take 2-0 Series Lead Over Spruce Grove With 4-1 Win

Brooks, Alberta – The Brooks Bandits defeated the Spruce Grove Saints 4-1 to take a 2-0 series lead Saturday night at the Centennial Regional Arena. Dmitrijs Dilevka recorded his second multi-point effort of the playoffs in as many games.

Tanner Winegard scored the lone first period goal at 11:00 on a point shot that went in after an odd bounce. Jack Rosensteel and Frantisek Albrecht posted helpers on the goal.

Rosensteel kicked off the second period with a goal on the short side from the right circle at 2:12. Dmitrijs Dilevka followed up at the end of the period at 18:43 to give the Bandits a 3-0 lead heading into the second intermission.

The Saints showed some life at 4:33 when Charlie Derrheim scored a shorthanded goal after a turnover in the Bandits’ zone. Isaac Johnson scored 22 seconds later on the power play after Dmitrijs Dilevka passed it to him on the goal line.

The Bandits are back in action Tuesday when they visit Spruce Grove for Games 3 and 4. Puck drop for both matchups is 7:00 MT.
