Brooks, Alberta – The Brooks Bandits defeated the Spruce Grove Saints 6-4 at the Centennial Regional Arena Saturday night. Harry Ahlberg and Isaac Johnson both posted multi-point games, and Zach Zahara made 30 saves in an impressive win.
Nico Addy got things started for the Bandits, scoring five hole on the unsuspecting Saints goaltender at 4:26. Mathis Dufour followed suit with another goal through the five hole when his pass deflected off a Saints defender at 11:47. Brandon Funk drew the Saints within one at 16:51, and Ben Buckley tied it up for the Saints with five seconds remaining in the first frame.
Liam Fitzpatrick scored at 2:15 of the second period when a scramble ensued in front of the net. That was the lone goal of the second frame.
Harry Ahlberg got the party started in the third with a backhand beauty buried top shelf at 2:21. Isaac Johnson scored again to make it 5-2 for the Bandits at 15:16, but the Saints would not give up there.
James Richards scored 35 seconds later, and then Declan Waddick scored again to make it interesting late. Ahlberg was able to score the empty-netter at 19:53 to seal the deal.
The Bandits are back in action Sunday night when they host the Okotoks Oilers for a 4:00 MT puck drop. Nathan Crosby will have the call for you then.
