Bandits secure four of six points in BC trip with 6-3 win over Vipers

Vernon, BC (February 2, 2025) – Forwards Jace Letourneau and Caden Drury each tallied three points as the Brooks Bandits secured four of a possible six points on their BC road trip following a 6-3 win on Sunday over the Vernon Vipers at Kal Tire Place.

Goaltender Chris Quizi made 28 saves for his first road win as the Bandits improved to 27-8-2, one point back of second place Trail with a game in hand.

In the opening period, the Bandits had a five-on-three powerplay, but didn’t solve Vipers goaltender Logan Cunningham, who stopped all five shots on the powerplay. Later in the period on a Vipers powerplay, forward Koji Gibson ripped a top corner wrist shot past the glove of Chris Quizi to put the Vipers up 1-0.

In the second frame, the Bandits tied with a  one-time snapshot from Letourneau at the point that found its way through Cunningham to tie the game 1-1. Just 17 seconds later, on a two-on-one, Letourneau set up Drury on the left side with a one time blast to put the Bandits up 2-1. Just four minutes later, Vipers forward Kyren Gronick was left alone in front and was set up with a pass from Luc Bydal as he tucked away the quick wrist shot to tie the game 2-2. Just a few minutes later in the period, Bandits defenceman Keith McInnis sent a loose puck on net from the left boards and it trickled in between the legs of Cunningham as the Bandits took back the lead 3-2.

In the final period, Just 22 seconds in, Bandits forward Cooper Pierson stole the puck short-handed and scored on a breakaway to put the Bandits ahead 4-2. Five minutes later, forward Mathis Dufour tapped in the backdoor pass from linemate Jack Rosensteel to tally another goal as the Bandits lead 5-2. Just over two minutes later, Letourneau batted in his mid air rebound off the end boards with a great hand eye play to put the Bandits up 6-2. Just after the timeout the Vipers got one back as Talan Blanck scored his 7th on the season to make it 6-3.

Bandits secured four of six points in their BC road trip and will continue their season on the road with a game in Spruce Grove on Friday, February 7th. They return home on Saturday, February 8th, to host the Blackfalds Bulldogs at the Centennial Regional Arena.
