Bandits remain unbeaten in Preseason following 7-1 win over Oilers

September 13, 2024 – Nick Peluso picked up four points in a 7-1 exhibition win over the Okotoks Oilers at the Centennial Regional Arena, their third straight win in the Preseason.

Goaltender Johnny Hicks made 16 saves for the win.

Nick Peluso opened up the scoring 9:11 into the first period, scoring a goal on the powerplay with a pass from Nathan Free and Liam Fitzpatrick added one more goal only three minutes later to lead the Bandits into intermission with a 2-0 lead. Bandits lead on shots 12-5 after the first.

In the 2nd period, Nathan free and Matej Teply both created some phenomenal chances leading to another 2 goals in the first eight minutes of the period and only three minutes apart. Brayden Duy countered back with a shot from the point for the Oilers first goal of the game at 15:58. With only 23 seconds left in the period, Parker Lalonde scores to make it a four goal lead for the Bandits. Ethan Beyer is already tallying 3 assists as well.

In the third period, Josh Wiebe picked up a two minute cross-checking penalty 3:44 into the period and on the ensuing penalty kill, Nick Peluso scores a goal after a hard fought battle in open ice against two Oilers defenseman. Mathis Dufour scores one more later on in the period for his first of the pre-season to bring the Bandits lead to six goals.

The Bandits wrap up their Exhibition Schedule on Saturday, September 14th, where the team heads up the road to Blackfalds to face the Bulldogs. Game time is set for 6:00 pm.
