Okotoks, Alberta. — The Brooks Bandits edged the Okotoks Oilers 5–4 at Viking Rentals Arena on Tuesday night, powered by a three-point performance from Harry Ahlberg, who scored twice and added an assist. Jack Good and Zachary Deleau also chipped in with multi-point outings as Brooks earned its second win over Okotoks this season.
Brett Wilson opened the scoring for the Oilers at 6:50 of the first period, but the Bandits answered quickly. Mark Konstantinov buried a rebound at 8:57 to tie the game, and Ahlberg followed with a top-shelf finish later in the frame to give Brooks a 2–1 lead heading into the intermission.
Okotoks responded early in the second period. Brady Engelkes tied the game at 6:07, and Jamie Hikidia scored moments later to put the Oilers ahead 3–2. The Bandits struck back on a 5-on-3 power play, with Ahlberg netting his second of the night at 15:38. Just 22 seconds later, Mathis Dufour blasted a slap shot past the Oilers’ goaltender to restore Brooks’ lead.
Jack Good extended the advantage midway through the third period, finishing an odd-man rush with a backhand at 9:05. Wilson pulled Okotoks within one with 30 seconds remaining, but goaltender Zach Zahara shut the door late to secure the win.
The Bandits will be well represented at the BCHL All-Star Weekend, as Dakota Mason, Zachary Deleau, Harry Ahlberg, and Alexei Zhukov are set to participate in the event from January 16–18.
