Spruce Grove, Alberta – The Brooks Bandits defeated the Spruce Grove Saints 9-3 and eliminated them in the first round of the Rogers BCHL Playoffs. Dmitrijs Dilevka recorded six points in tonight’s game and absolutely dominated the series, posting at least two points in each game. He now sits at 15 points through his first four games of the playoffs.
Jack Rosensteel scored the lone first period goal when he beat Ryan De Kok to the far side on an odd man rush.
Francois De Villiers recorded his first goal of the playoffs at 1:43 of the second period before Mathis Dufour put one past De Kok at 5:16. Harry Ahlberg scored in his second straight game at 6:56, and Rosensteel added his second on another odd man rush at 8:52. Zachary Deleau kept the push going with a goal at 12:40, until Declan Waddick got the Saints on the board at 15:49 to give the Bandits a 6-1 lead heading into the intermission.
Dilevka extended his goal streak to four games with a goal at 11:27. Although the Saints responded with Waddick scoring his second at 8:35, Dufour scored a beautiful breakaway goal at 9:00 to restore the lead. Dilevka added one more at 11:27 on a five minute power play, and it was all but over. Tre Peck scored a final consolation goal at 16:56 to make the final score 9-3.
The Bandits now await the winner of the Crusaders and Bulldogs series who they will host in nine days at the Centennial Regional Arena.
