Sherwood Park, Alberta – The Brooks Bandits defeated the Sherwood Park Crusaders 5-2 in Game 6 of the second round of the BCHL playoffs. Leon Bussmann, Isaac Johnson and Mathis Dufour all posted multi-point efforts.
The lone goal scorer of the first was Luke Melnik when he buried his first of the playoffs at 15:42. Mathis Dufour posted one of his two lamp lighters at 19:09 of the first frame and helped the Bandits to a 2-0 lead heading into the break.
Dufour scored his second at 12:48 while shorthanded before Sherwood Park’s Ryan White cut into the lead at 14:47 to give the Bandits a 3-1 lead after two.
The Bandits came out of the second intermission firing, with Nico Addy firing one on net from a tough angle and scoring his third of the playoffs (1:54). Bussmann struck 15 seconds later on a a deke in tight to give the Bandits a commanding 5-1 lead. Quincy Supprien did score one more for the Crusaders at 12:56, but it was too little too late.
The Bandits now head back to the Centennial Regional Arena for a Game 7 matchup with the Crusaders on Tuesday night. Puck drop is at 7:00 MT.
