Bandits fall 5-4 to the Chiefs in double overtime of game three

Chilliwack, BC (May 20, 2025) – Despite a hat trick from Parker Lalonde, and a 46-save performance from Zach Zahara, the Brooks Bandits fell 5-4 to the Chilliwack Chiefs in a wild double overtime Game 3 on Tuesday at the Chilliwack Coliseum.

The Bandits had thought they won the game in the 1st overtime on a goal from Lalonde, but goaltender interference was called. The Chiefs lead the best of seven series 2-1. Game 4 is Wednesday in Chilliwack.

In the opening frame, the Bandits opened the scoring just under eight minutes in as Lalonde scored his 16th of the playoffs. Later in the frame, forward Michal Liscinsky scored his third of the playoffs to double the Bandits lead. At the end of the period, Dustin Renas from the Chiefs scored with under one second left on a breakaway.

In the 2nd period, Caleb Malhotra scored his 4th of the post season to tie the game. Just four minutes later Parker Lalonde netted his 2nd of the game and league leading 17th of the playoffs as he put the Bandits back in front. Just under five minutes later, Lalonde got his hat trick goal on the powerplay to bring the Bandits to another two goal lead.

In the third period, Just over two minutes in, captain Mateo Mrsic scored his 6th of the playoffs to cut the deficit in half. With just under three minutes to go in the period, Caleb Malhotra scored his 2nd of the game and it was the game tying goal late to send this contest into overtime.

In the first overtime, Parker Lalonde scored what would’ve been his 4th goal of the night, but after video review, it was determined that it was goaltender interference, which the refs overturned the call and the game would continue.

In the 2nd overtime, it took just over 13 minutes but Mateo Mrsic scored his 2nd of the game with a wrist shot that beat goaltender Zach Zahara on the blocker side, as the Bandits dropped game three of the BCHL Final.
