Bandits drop 6-1 loss to Vees in 2nd game of BC road trip

Penticton, BC (February 1, 2025) – The Brooks Bandits are 1-1 on their three-game BC road trip following a 6-1 defeat to the Penticton Vees on Saturday at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Vees goaltender Ethan Buenaventura made 21 saves for the win, while Bandits starter Zach Zahara made 32 saves.

In the first period, despite the Bandits having the edge in shots, Veesm forward Eli McKamey one-timed a pass on the powerplay to make it 1-0.

Just over three minutes into the second period, Bandits forward Nathan Free fired a one-timer pass from defenceman Ethan Beyer on the powerplay to tie the game 1-1. Free has goals in three straight games. After the tying goal by the Bandits, the Vees would take over as Max Heise and Tristan Petersen Scored under two minutes apart to put the Vees back ahead to 3-1. Petersen’s goal was reviewed as the right post of the Bandits net was well off, but the refs deemed Zahara pushed the net off himself.

With just under seven minutes left, Luke Posthumus scored his 22nd goal of the year on the powerplay to send the Vees to a 4-1 lead. Moments later Davide Patella was tripped on a breakaway and was awarded a penalty shot, but he came up short as Buenaventura turned aside his wrist shot with the blocker. With 45 seconds left, Rydan Evers tipped in the point shot to make it 5-1 before the intermission.

In the final frame, seven minutes in, Caton Ryan tucked away the loose puck to extend the Vees lead to 6-1.

The Bandits head to Vernon to take on the Vipers on Sunday, February 2nd with an afternoon start. Puck drop is set for 2 PM PST. Listen live to the broadcast on New Country 105.7 or on Flo Hockey
