Bandits Defeat Clippers 4-3 in OT and Win Second Consecutive Rogers BCHL Cup

Brooks, Alberta – The Brooks Bandits defeated the Nanaimo Clippers 4-3 in overtime and won the Rogers BCHL Cup in five games. It is the Bandits’ second straight league championship. Jack Good scored the overtime winner.

Patrick Fortune scored for the Clippers at 3:41 of the first period to give Nanaimo a 1-0 lead before Drew Roelofs connected at 13:41 to extend the lead to 2-0 heading into the first intermission.

Jack Rosensteel responded just 22 seconds into the second period on a scramble in front of the net. Liam Fitzpatrick scored shortly after at 6:00 to tie the game at two.

Frantisek Albrecht gave the Bandits a 3-2 lead at 5:42 of the third period after a puck from Luke Melnik bounced off his skate. Samuel Boisvert scored for the Clippers with the extra attacker on the ice with just 48 seconds remaining in regulation.

Jack Good scored at 5:10 of overtime off a feed from Mathis Dufour and a strong keep-in by Francois De Villiers to maintain possession in the offensive zone.

Zach Zahara was named Playoff MVP. The Rocky View, Alberta native started all 21 playoff games for Brooks, posting a 16-3-2 record, a 1.95 goals-against average, second best in the postseason, and a .928 save percentage, fourth best in the postseason.
