Bandits come out with 5-2 win over the Saints

The Brooks Bandits tallied five unanswered goals and Chris Quizi got the win in goal as they defeated the Spruce Grove Saints by a score of 5-2 on Saturday night at the Centennial Regional Arena.

In the first period, the Saints came out in front in the first six minutes of play as Alexy Lachaine scored his sixth of the season. Just over a minute later, Liam Fitzpatrick created space on the right side and drove the puck to the net where he fired the wrist shot far side, tying the game up quickly for the Bandits. In the last second of the period, Jace Letourneau tucked home his sixth on the year with a loose puck in front to put the Bandits in front ahead of the break.

In the middle frame, Nathan Free showed off his wicked wrister as he scored his 20th on the year to double up the Bandits lead. Just under three minutes later, AJ Lacroix scored his seventh of the year to put the Bandits up 4-1.

In the final period, Keith McInnis scored the fifth goal for the Bandits as the loose puck bounces off his skate and it’s called a goal on the ice after review as it was determined the puck was re-directed into the goal. With under five minutes left, James Richards shoots a sneaky wrist shot that squeezes past Chris Quizi to bring the saints to two goals. Late in the game Nate Yellowaga dropped the gloves and got the place jumping as he added an exclamation mark to the Bandits 5-2 win.

The team hits the road next weekend as they head to Salmon Arm, Penticton and Vernon to play three games in three nights. You can catch the broadcast live with Nathan Crosby on New Country 105.7 or on Flo Hockey.
