Bandits clinch playoff spot with 3-2 overtime thriller win in Okotoks

Okotoks, AB (February 15, 2025) – The Bandits paid a visit to Okotoks on Saturday evening to take on the Oilers at the Eagle Builders Centre as the Bandits bounced back after a loss the night before to defeat the Oilers 3-2 in overtime.

Chris Quizi stopped 43 of 45 shots to earn himself the win and 2nd star of the game.

In the opening frame, the Bandits came out fast and first as Luke Bibby buried his first of the season with the Bandits on a backhand five hole shot. Just a few minutes later Nathan free was set up in the high slot from Cooper Pierson as he fired home the top corner wrist shot to double the Bandits lead. Late in the frame, the Oilers got one back on the board as Brett Wilson tapped in the cross feed 2 on 1 pass to make it a 2-1 game.

In the middle frame the shots were 15-5 for the Oilers as they laid heavy pressure on the Bandits but goaltender Chris Quizi stood strong in his net.

In the third period, Ryan Boyce from the Oilers converted on the rush after a big stop from Olivier Ciarlo to tie the game just over six minutes in. The game went to overtime tied 2-2.

In the overtime period, after the Bandits killed a two minute penalty, Davide Patella buried the loose puck in the blue paint and won it for the Bandits 3-2.

The Bandits are back in action on Family Day when they take on the Blackfalds Bulldogs at the Eagle Builder Centre at 4 PM.
