The Brooks Bandits have acquired 2006-born forward Makaio Van Tassel from the Langley Rivermen in exchange for future considerations.
Van Tassel, from San Diego, CA, registered 31 points (11g-20a) in 40 games with the Rivermen last year after starting the season with the Anchorage Wolverines of the North American Hockey League (NAHL).
“Anytime you can add offensive depth, skill, and junior experience, it’s a good day. Makaio is a proven offensive player who also brings the character and competitiveness we’re looking for. We expect him to make an immediate impact and are excited to welcome him to the Brooks Bandits,” said Director of Hockey Operations, Wayne Labrie.
Van Tassel will embark on his fourth season of junior hockey. The experienced forward’s resume includes 80 combined games with Langley and the Nanaimo Clippers along with 40 games played with the USHL’s Sioux City Musketeers.
The Brooks Bandits would like to welcome Makaio and his family to the organization and community.
